Hyundai Glovis Czech Corporation Meet
Hyundai Glovis’s first female reach stacker drivers!

Pragmatism, sense of humor, rich literary sensibilities and more seem to aptly describe the Czech people. Now “never-give-up spirit” must be added to the list. Meet the first female reach stacker drivers at Hyundai Glovis Czech Republic Corporation (HGCZ). We met with these two amazing women who expertly use heavy-duty reach stackers—the backbone of logistics—to move huge 70-ton containers every day.

“Reach stackers are my life!”

Reach stacker driver Markéta Fedaszová

I used to work for another company, but joined HGCZ because I wanted to learn to drive a reach stacker. On the first day, I received my work clothes and learned about the overall environment, the training, the shifts, and individual departments. Unlike my previous job, the workspace was very neat and organized. This gave me a very good first impression of HGCZ.

Even though I started this line of work because it was what I wanted to do, at the beginning the challenge of being the first woman reach stacker driver was very stressful. However, I was able to keep it up thanks to my team members who supported me whenever I had a hard time. In addition to my colleagues, my bosses always encouraged me throughout my training. At times like that, I felt very proud to be a part of Hyundai Glovis. In addition to my team members and leaders who supported me, I’m also thankful to the training sessions Hyundai Glovis provided which helped me greatly.

Even though my main job is handling reach stackers, I also work as an operator, site worker, and forklift driver, and do desk work. Of course, among all these jobs, driving the reach stacker is the most exciting for me. I think this is because I love to drive, and on my days off I enjoy getting my body moving with various sports activities like cycling.

The big advantage for reach stacker drivers is that we have relatively more freedom because we work outside the CC warehouse. However, despite such a free atmosphere, there are times when I feel a certain burden of responsibility and pressure as the first woman reach stacker at HGCZ. Fortunately, this also serves as a positive motivation that makes me grow even further and allows me to focus more on my job.

In the future, I want to write my own success story as a reach stack driver. With the COVID situation improving recently in the Czech Republic, many restrictions are being lifted. I look forward to when I can more freely enjoy working with my team members.

It is important to share information during shifts while doing field work.

I am really proud to be the first woman reach stacker driver.

Our outdoor office has everything we need.

“The joy of doing a special job!”

Rookie reach stacker driver Silvie Volná

It has already been 12 years since I first joined HGCZ, my first workplace. Thanks to being here for so many years, I have had opportunities to handle a variety of jobs, from organizing documents to leading a small team. Perhaps it was due to these diverse opportunities that I at some point started dreaming of doing some more interesting work. Then the reach stacker caught my eye. When I decided that I wanted to become a reach stacker driver at HGCZ as a woman, thankfully the people around me readily encouraged my dream.

There are countless drivers around the world including at HGCZ, but there are not many who have the skills to be a reach stacker driver. I am thus overjoyed that I can work in this special section and continue to learn. When I first received my training here, studying the technical areas such as checking tire pressure and hydraulic fluid levels was more difficult than I had expected. However, thanks to the systematic training provided by HGCZ, I have become a proud reach stacker driver and can do my job more confidently than ever. During the 7 hours and 30 minutes of my daily worktime and lunchtime, I am the happiest when I am driving. I think this is because I can stop worrying about life’s problems and just concentrate on driving.

Even though I’m still just a rookie driver, my goal is to gain more experience as soon as possible to become an expert reach stacker driver. After I reach my goal, and after the global COVID pandemic has passed, I look forward to enjoying a leisurely cup of coffee with my colleagues.

Although this is just a small office pantry,
it’s convenient because we can make coffee and reheat basic foods.

It is also important for reach stacker drivers
to receive technical training to drive safely.

The inside of a reach stacker is much more modern than you might expect,
and is comfortable because it is digitalized.
