Best Practices in the First Half of 2021

The last Monday of every month is Compliance Management Day,
and all teams freely conduct activities related to compliance management, fair trade, and corruption prevention to establish and strengthen the Compliance Program (CP).
Here are the six teams that have performed excellently with their best efforts, with sincerity, and not just carelessly.

What are your kinds of activities, and how is the participation by the team members?


Our team’s main task is securing major logistics bases and switching the work method to DT. Therefore, we have many people who are concerned with us internally and externally. That is why we focus on studying various cases for avoiding risk and complying with the laws, and reorganizing them to apply to our situation. Fortunately, everyone is actively sharing this information all the time, and our team leader in particular is leading this effort.

What do you plan to do to maintain the performance?


We try not to make mistakes by learning from what is reported on the media, in addition to the issues that can occur within the company. With being selected as an opportunity, we will try once again to improve the quality of our activities, by sharing comparisons and analyses with relevant departments when a case occurs, instead of keeping them to our team.

A company is a place where people work together, and it needs constant attention from everybody. I would like to emphasize that it is really important to share diverse points of view.

What kind of activities are you involved in, and how is the participation by the team members?


On Compliance Management Day every month, we encourage the team members to perform company-wide tasks and deliver news related to fair trade. Because it is closely related to our team, the team members also participate actively, and we all think seriously about the contents that are shared.

Why is this activity necessary, and to what did you pay the closest attention as the person in charge?


As a team that deals with numerous partners from various industries, we need to always pay attention to whether there are any conflicts with the Fair Trade Act or the Subtracting Act. So as a person in charge, I take responsibility for risk reduction activities by sharing the regulation trends of the Fair Trade Commission, etc. For the rest of the year, I would like to discuss the risk-reduction measures for each business unit with other managers.

If there was any employee who has made a significant contribution to the performance of this activity, please tell us.


The activity was about the inspection of our team’s contract based on actual cases of restrictions by the Fair Trade Commission, so the purchasing managers actively participated. In particular, Manager Choi Jin-seok suggested potential risks from various perspectives and Manager Pyo Byeong-chan checked the risks on current contracts and modified the technical requirement document, improving the work integrity.

What efforts did you encourage your team members to participate, and how was the participation?


To motivate our team members, I studied the outline and purpose of the activity, tried to understand them first, and proposed it in an easier way for them to participate. Since only half of them worked in the office and the other half worked from home, it was difficult to gather in one place and discuss things, but we could make it easier to participate through Teams video conferencing and group chats.

What is the most important factor for the performance of CP activities, and how do you plan to lead it in the future?


I believe that voluntary participation by the team members is most important for CP activities. In the little remaining part of the year, I will continue with cooperating and communicating with the team members for the activities.

If there was an employee who made a significant contribution to the performance of this activity; please tell us about him or her.


I would like to applaud the enthusiasm and response of Senior Manager Park Ji-hyeon, the only female in the team who always tries to brighten the mood of the team. In addition, I would like to cheer up all the members of the Procurement Planning Team, who are always behind everyone to support other purchasing teams.

What kind of activities are you engaged in, and how is the participation by the team members?


We provide training on cases guided by the Compliance Team every month. We also provide training on how to deal with and prevent the issues that occurred before so that we can respond to them wisely in case the same situation arises. Due to the nature of the team, we work in Ulsan, Asan, and Jeonju, so we try to encourage people to participate in various ways. We are creating synergy in both CP and CS, thanks to the efforts of Senior Manager Jang Geon-guk who is in charge of CS training.

Why is this activity necessary, and to what did you pay the closest attention as the person in charge?


As a field operation department, I think we need to pay more attention than any other department because reliable and transparent management is impossible without corporate ethics. Therefore, we are working hard to recognize problems before they occur and prevent them in advance, and we try to make the activities fun through various events, so the team members don’t feel burdened with training.

Is there anything you learned from CP activities?


I learned that it takes a lot of time and effort to find and solve problems in the works done in the past. I would like to say that rather than settle for familiarity and comfort, it will be more helpful if you could seek advice from the legal team and the Compliance Team before handling work.

What kind of activities are you engaged in, and how is the participation by the team members?


We participate in the Fair Trade Newsletter quiz conducted every month and share various materials we receive from the Compliance Team. All of our team members are concerned about whether there is anything we miss in the work. It’s difficult to have face-to-face meetings, but we make chances to talk by creating a separate communication channel within Teams, and share important information during the team teatime we have together every week.

Are CP activities helpful in cultivating compliance spirit within the team?


Due to the nature of the department, we often have processes of tendering bids, selecting partners, and contracting, so there are many helpful contents. We were able to remind ourselves of the things that are easily missed. Personally, I liked the fact that there were contents that are hard to discover unless searched for. I plan to continue what we've been doing more thoroughly in the future.

What kind of activities do you do, and how is the participation by the team members?


On Compliance Management Day every month, we share cases and news related to compliance management through the Teams channel, and conduct quizzes. We have also conducted training related to fair trade cases within the team. Team members are giving feedback by clicking "Like," etc. and that is how we check their participation.

Why is this activity necessary, and to what did you pay the closest attention as the person in charge?


I think interest and attention are needed because minor mistakes related to compliance management that you don’t know of can have a major impact on the company. So I tried to encourage constant interest and attention among the team members. We tried to share information regularly instead of cramming the activities.

What do you plan to do to maintain the performance?


I want to focus on regular activities rather than special activities. I hope that the team members will also show constant interest in compliance management, as they do now. I am really grateful that they all take the time to read cases and participate in quizzes in their busy schedule.
