New Year’s Greetings from Hyundai Green Foods

There is a group of people who prepare for the new year before anyone else at Hyundai Glovis. Hyundai Green Food, which operates the cafe and employee cafeteria on the 33rd floor of the Hyundai Glovis headquarters. Here are some New Year’s greetings from Hyundai Green Food employees to welcome 2024.

Seongsu-dong may be the hotspot for Generation MZ, but it’s the 33rd floor cafe and employee cafeteria that Glovis love and frequent the most. It’s the place that wakes them up on the way to work, sweetens their afternoon laziness, and nourishes them with nutritious meals.

It’s New Year’s Day 2024, and the 33rd floor cafe lights up at 6:30. The coffee machine is set up, drinks are made, and we get ready to welcome Hyundai Glovis employees. Last year’s tasting day saw an increase in coffee purchases after we switched beans, and this year we plan to maintain the quality and meet the expectations of our employees.

On behalf of the five cafe employees, Hwang Hye- jeong, cafe manager, sent New Year’s greetings to the Glovis, saying, “We hope that the cafe drinks will give you a little strength and comfort, and we wish you a healthy and happy new year!

In 2024, the cafeteria will continue to host chef days and events with special menus once a month to ensure the health of Hyundai Glovis employees.

As the number of people served per day has increased to 1,300, Kim Min-ji feels more responsible and proud to share in the growth of Hyundai Glovis, and her New Year’s greeting is health. “In the new year, I will do my best to make Hyundai Glovis employee cafeteria a place where all customers can be satisfied. Please introduce yourself.

hello. I’m Hwang Hye-jeong, a manager who has been with the company for 7 years since the opening in Seolleung in 2016. As a manager, I manage the cafe.

The cafe on the 33rd floor of our headquarters is as busy as any other cafe. How much does it sell during the day?

On average, we sell about 1,300 cups a day. The robot cafe in the basement has reduced sales somewhat, but many employees still use the cafe on the 33rd floor.

I’m going to have to get to work early to greet the Glovis as they arrive in the morning. What does a typical day look like for you?

You open at 7am, so you arrive at 6:30am to set up the coffee machine, then make and sell drinks. I also take advantage of any lulls in customer traffic to place orders. We have five employees working in rotation until we close at 5pm.

Has anything changed since you hosted a tasting day in April?

After the tasting day, we changed our beans and sandwich varieties, and we saw a significant increase in coffee purchases, along with reviews that the coffee was high quality and delicious.

What menu item at the cafe has most appealed to Hyundai Glovis’ tastes?

In order to offer a variety of beverages, we offer seasonal drinks, and this winter we’re doing a ginger juice, which was popular last year. People seem to like it a lot because it contains a lot of ginger and we prepare it ourselves.

What do you look for to make sure your employees are comfortable?

When you’re working, breaks seem so short, right? We’re trying to deliver fast with good quality.

Do you have an episode with an employee who uses the cafe?

Because I’ve known them for so long, I naturally know their names, faces, and menu preferences. One day a customer showed me a picture of one of our employees and asked, “What does this person like to eat?” and I fumbled with my memory and made a menu. I remember the next time he came in and we had a good laugh about it.

Finally, would you like to share your New Year’s greetings with Hyundai Glovis?

Thank you for always having a smile on your face. Our mornings are full of little mistakes due to the large number of people rushing in at a certain time, and I really appreciate your understanding and consideration without raising a single eyebrow. Kim Min-ji oversees all aspects of the Glovis employee cafeteria. She was transferred to the headquarters in November 2021 and has been working there ever since.

What does a typical day look like?

A lot of people think that a dietitian’s job is just to make meals, but there’s a lot more to it than that. Starting with the most basic task of creating menus, a dietitian’s daily routine includes inspections, inventory, legal documentation, personnel management, and environmental management.

How many users do you have?

When we were in the Samjeong building, we were serving about 700 people a day, and now we’re serving about 1,300 people in the new building. It’s almost doubled, and while there were some growing pains for the restaurant staff as they had to adjust to the scale, I’m proud to say that Hyundai Green Foods has been a part of Glovis’ growth.

What is the favorite menu item for Glovis people?

The number one menu is Egg Tak! Sundubu Jjigae. As an office group, we don’t have a high preference for jjigae, but Hyundai Glovis people are very fond of big hot pot. Maybe it’s because we have a lot of meetings ^^ Jajangmyeon, pork cutlet, chicken, etc. are always popular menus.

What are your dietary guidelines?

Nutritional considerations are the most important, followed by the preferences of our customers and organizing the menu so that we can offer a variety of options. Our challenge is to come up with a menu that is both healthy and desirable, because there is no point in offering a menu that is not preferred by customers.

What are you doing for the health of Glovis people?

We are currently conducting nutrition counseling and health challenges for Glovis. As the number of customers who are concerned about diet and health has increased, we are also focusing on the salad section to provide a variety of nutrients. We are also trying to utilize seasonal ingredients and incorporate them into the menu.

I’m curious about an episode with an employee in a restaurant.

It’s not much of an episode, but we always wear uniforms and hair nets, so when we meet and greet customers outside the restaurant in plain clothes, some people don’t recognize us or are surprised. I think they feel that the feeling is much different when wearing a uniform than when wearing plain clothes.^^ Some customers buy drinks or snacks for us to thank us at the end of the year or during the holidays, so we are always grateful for the thoughtfulness of the restaurant.

Do you have any regrets?

We’re in the service business, so it’s natural to greet our customers cheerfully, but I think we’d be more energized if they greeted us back and treated us with kindness. One compliment, one greeting, is enough to energize our employees.

Will there be any new changes to your diet, operations, etc. in 2024?

Since the end of the year, we have been holding chef days and events that offer special menus once a month. We plan to continue this program in the new year. We also plan to collaborate with food brands such as London Bagel, explore Seongsu-dong restaurants, and make various attempts to increase the satisfaction of Glovis employees.
