Establishing the first EV-specialized marine transportation
solution among global shipping companies

In order to respond to the rapidly growing electric vehicle market, Hyundai Glovis has provided the first “EV-specialized marine transportation service” in the PCTC (Pure Car and Truck Carrier) market which mostly transports motor vehicles.

Recently, Hyundai Glovis has been preparing a marine transportation of electric vehicles’ manual, applying it in the field to load/transport/unload the vehicles. Electric vehicles have different characteristics from the existing internal combustion engine vehicles, such as battery cells widely attached to the lower part, etc. In addition, the shipping form is marked with EV for a different customized management from motor vehicles, and the vehicles’ brief information including the battery charging rate and requests from the shipper, etc. are shared through internal computer program. Loaded vehicles are closely maintained for its battery charge and exterior for transportation quality. Based on this information, loading and unloading are done safely and customer satisfaction is increased by sharing the transportation information with the shipper.

Hyundai Glovis has also prepared the accident prevention and emergency correspondence manuals and made one training per quarter mandatory to provide the best service to the shipper with customized management for electric vehicles. Furthermore, it will make an “MOU for the joint development of a safety guide for the marine transportation of electric vehicles” with the Korean Register of Shipping to cooperate in making the electric vehicles’ specialized marine transportation solution concrete. The completed safety manual is to be applied to the current ships, as well as the new ships in the future.

Emphasizing this point, Hyundai Glovis plans to expand its transportation performance by targeting both global completed vehicle manufacturers and new EV brands. As the new electric vehicle companies lack the experience in logistics, in particular, they will be provided with the one-stop logistics services that connects the terminals, lands, and seas.

Hyundai Glovis will identify the change in the automobile industry, develop services to satisfy the needs of shippers in advance, and continue to show competitiveness in the marine transportation leading the global market.

Delivering compassion goods such as pet plants
and goods to the elderly who live alone

In the Family Month, Hyundai Glovis has delivered compassion goods to elderly people who live alone in the areas related to its businesses. The delivered goods are pet plants and foods; about 30 employees prepared the pet plants by changing pots at their homes, and social welfare workers of the areas delivered the goods 'untact,' by leaving them in front of the houses of the elderly.

Hyundai Glovis has prepared eternity plants to help the elderly living alone to cope with the depression that may occur to them. Eternity plants grow well with indirect light from indoors, and are easy to take care of. Along with this, Hyundai Glovis has also delivered some instant food for quick preparation, as visiting public facilities is difficult currently.

Hyundai Glovis will continue to set a good example as a representative Korean logistics company, by actively practicing social contributions to improve local communities.

Participation in the Korean Pollution-Free Conversion 100 Project

Hyundai Glovis is participating in the ‘Korean Pollution-Free Conversion 100 (K-EV100)’ project led by the Ministry of Environment to speed up the reduction of carbon emissions in the logistics/transportation field. On May 26, Hyundai Glovis participated in the ‘2030 Korean Pollution-Free Conversion 100 (K-EV100)’ declaration ceremony held in The-K Hotel Yangjae, Seoul, to declare voluntary conversion to zero emission vehicles and strive for carbon neutrality. Minister of Environment Han Jeoung Ae, as well as 17 representative logistics/transportation companies, the Korea Automobile Environmental Association, etc., participated in the declaration ceremony.

The K-EV100 project is a campaign by private companies to publicly declare their commitment to gradually converting their owned and rented vehicles to electric or hydrogen vehicles. As of now, a total of 111 companies have promised to convert more than 1,290,000 vehicles by year 2030.

In this regard, the Ministry of Environment plans to support a rapid conversion in the logistics/transportation area by assigning subsidies to the participating companies, etc. Hyundai Glovis plans to implement the green project operation by actively participating in the campaign.
