Advancing into gas shipping to
realize a global hydrogen society

Hyundai Glovis, a global company that specializes in SCM, signed a shipping deal with Trafigura, one of the three largest commodity trading companies in the world, and will start shipping ammonia and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) starting in 2024. Hyundai Glovis CEO Kim Jung-hoon and Trafigura Executive Director of Oil Trading Jose Maria LaRocca participated in the online signing ceremony. With this contract, Hyundai Glovis will enter the gas transportation business in earnest by transporting ammonia and LPG to global markets for up to ten years. Another preconceived plan is to expand the scope of shipping business and speed up the establishment of a hydrogen value chain for the global hydrogen society.

Hyundai Glovis plans to invest about 200 billion won to build two VLGCs (very large gas carriers) and deploy them into the global shipping market. They are the largest gas carriers in the world, designed with special materials to transport ammonia. It is known that there are currently about 20 VLGCs in the world capable of loading ammonia (less than 10% of the total VLGC fleet). In addition, the carriers will be built in cutting-edge, environment-friendly way.

While proving its competitiveness in the gas shipping market, Hyundai Glovis also plans to promote the establishment of a clean hydrogen infrastructure and liquid hydrogen transportation to take the lead in global hydrogen distribution.

Delivery of emergency relief supplies
to flood victims in Gyeongsangbuk-do

Hyundai Glovis has delivered 200 emergency relief supply kits to Pohang-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, a city suffering in the aftermath of Typhoon Omais. The emergency relief kit consists of various daily necessities (towels, underwear, toiletries, wet tissues, etc.), medical supplies (adhesive plasters, pain relief patches, etc.), and protective supplies (KF94 masks, etc.). Hyundai Glovis donated a one-ton wing body truck for smooth transportation of the relief goods and is also paying for the costs.

The reason why we were able to send the relief supplies quickly in the event of the disaster is because Hyundai Glovis had pre-produced 500 emergency relief kits and stored them at the Hamyang Logistics Center of the Korea Disaster Relief Association to prepare for damages caused by heavy rain and typhoons. Hyundai Glovis plans to continue to use its advantages as a logistics company to actively participate in fulfilling its social responsibilities.

Distribution of 20,000 safety product sets
to workers in distribution business

Hyundai Glovis produces safety product sets and delivers them non-face-to-face to prevent accidents and help personal protection of workers in distribution businesses. A safety product set includes safety gloves, hand massager, sleep-prevention patch, gum, and candy, KF94 masks and mask strap, hand sanitizer, etc.

The company distributed 500 safety product sets at the drive-through site at Ulsan Cargo Terminal located in Buk-gu, Ulsan, on September 27, and additional 500 sets at Logisquare Busan New Port Center in Gangseo-gu, Busan, on the 28th. More safety product sets for about 19,000 people including the users of 63 cargo terminals nationwide, workers at 15 logistics centers, drivers for trucks belonging to Hyundai Glovis, and employees at partner companies will be shipped by courier by November. Hyundai Glovis plans to provide support in various ways to continue its win-win relationships with all partners.
