“Hello, I’m Noddy Guntolo, and I’m a manager at GLOVIS INDONESIA’s Car Carrier Logistics. I work with a total of 19 team members across the Transportation Processing (TP) and Port Processing (PP) teams. I am truly grateful to be working with such excellent team members.”

Indonesia: A Land of Many Faces, Where Diverse Cultures and Traditions Coexist

Indonesia is a country made up of over 17,000 islands, with the major ones consisting of Java, Bali, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Timor, Papua, and the Maluku Islands. Stretching from the eastern to the western end it spans three time zones, and is thus divided into Western, Central, and Eastern Indonesia. With a population of 250 million, it is the fourth most populous country in the world. Indonesia is a multi-ethnic and multicultural nation, home to over 1,300 ethnic groups, including the Javanese.

GLOVIS INDONESIA is located in South Jakarta, a prominent satellite city of Jakarta known for its business district. Departments related to cargo forwarding, finance, HR, general affairs, business support, IT, and PCC are all based here.

GLOVIS INDONESIA conducts most of its business activities related to the Hyundai plant in the Cikarang area, approximately 55 km from South Jakarta. Here, the company supports HMMI and HMID through CKD trading/packaging, production logistics, PIO/yard management, and vehicle transportation. In North Jakarta, the external yard (KBN Yard) provides additional vehicle storage and pre-delivery processing services for HMID. At the RORO Vessel Terminal in Tanjung Priok Port, HMMI handles CBU exports and HMID manages CBU import activities.

Joining Hyundai Glovis: The Best Decision of My Life

Noddy joined GLOVIS INDONESIA in March 2021. This was a difficult time for Noddy, as the foreign automotive company he had previously worked for was ceasing production. When he heard that Hyundai Glovis was starting business operations in Indonesia, he saw it as a great opportunity. After receiving positive feedback about the company from a former colleague who had since joined GLOVIS INDONESIA, he was determined to join himself.

“Deciding to work at GLOVIS INDONESIA has been the best decision of my life. Not only is the work environment excellent, but management also provides strong support and always listens to employees' opinions. Joining the company in its early days and participating in the setup process was an incredibly exciting and unforgettable experience.”

GLOVIS INDONESIA organizes various events to strengthen teamwork such as a visit to a waterfall for FUN DAY last December.

Staff at GLOVIS INDONESIA's Jakarta office celebrates the company's anniversary, reflecting a warm and positive atmosphere.

When asked about memorable moments at GLOVIS INDONESIA, Noddy shared a family story:

“I once took my wife and children to visit a few places, and we happened to see a Hyundai transport ship. I explained to them what I do while looking at the ship, and my child said, ‘I’m proud of you, Dad.’ The pride I felt then and the sense of being a part of Glovis will stay with me for a long time.”

Noddy, who has a close-knit family, captures a happy moment with his wife and two children.

“Noddy has excellent qualities as both a leader and follower. Professionally, he excels in analytical and problem-solving abilities, handling issues like transportation accidents or claims with both prudence and composure. I consider myself very fortunate to have worked with Noddy.”

Respecting Diversity

Noddy already had experience with Korean corporate culture through 15 years of work with another Korean company. This background allowed him to adapt quickly after joining Hyundai Glovis. With unequaled leadership and expertise, he has demonstrated exceptional performance in leading both the TP and PP teams.

“The TP team has established transport methods across Indonesia, not only securing highly competitive shipping costs through the bidding process but also drastically reducing the defect rate in export shipments. Meanwhile, the PP team has independently handled customs clearance, achieving both high levels of expertise and profitability. As a result, both teams have achieved remarkable success, including handling the import of CBU vehicles for the Korean Embassy and other brands besides Hyundai.”

Vehicles to be delivered to dealers across Indonesia

As someone who has experienced working with both Korean companies and other foreign enterprises, Noddy recognizes quick responsiveness and strict self-discipline in adhering to regulations as major strengths of Korean corporate culture. This reflects his respect for diversity, a trait common among Indonesians. Thanks to these qualities, he is highly regarded internally, both as a capable team leader and as a good listener who values others' opinions. This is why the future seems to be bright for both Noddy and GLOVIS INDONESIA.

“I want to pass on the experience and skills I've acquired to enhance the talents and abilities of my team members. I have a strong desire to lead the team from a higher position, based on trust.”
