Performance and productivity UP!
Grow every day with records

If you want to improve your company’s performance, what if you feel frustrated for no reason? When you encounter such a limit, the easiest way to put it into practice right away is to “record”. Let’s start right now to record yourself growing and improving your work efficiency.

1 왜 기록해야 하는가

Recording keeps me growing

Recording means organizing a cluttered room and creating your own space where you can move freely at any time. From improving work efficiency to having a high level of knowledge to planning for the future and leading a proactive life, all achievements require records. There are two ways to grow as a human being: accepting something from outside or drawing something from inside, and the same goes for the form of records. First, it is to systematize and summarize dozens or thousands of types of knowledge and non-knowledge that pour in from outside, and to record important information among them. The second is to record the potential that exists deep inside and bring it to the outside. The moment these two types of records interlock like cogs, the utility of the records increases and you can enjoy an intellectually rich life. “Write it down. “It will change your life.

Only the Magnetized Remains

Let’s say you’re watching a funny video on YouTube and you burst out laughing. At that moment, if you thought for a moment, “It’s really funny to use a certain word with a certain expression in a certain situation, isn’t it?” that is my own interpretation of the YouTube video. This is done by magnetizing it. When you realize it in your own way, it stays very strong in your mind. Also, when you personalize it, you can select, condense, and organize only the scenes that are important to you. Recording is also a process of magnetization. It is really difficult to remember unfamiliar words and sentences without making a single mistake. However, if you magnetize them with familiar words and logic, you can remember them more effectively and for a longer time.

Experts who keep records don’t use much.

Memos are useful when they extract the key points from a large amount of content and write them down. Not only can you not capture all the information, but if you try to take too many notes, you may miss the point. So what you need is a summary. Summarizing is about condensing memories and creating new ones. Let’s say you’re walking down the street and see leaves rustling in the wind. Instead of writing, “I felt as if the leaves were speaking as I watched them gently sway in the wind,” I would write, “The words of the leaves. It contains a whole memory and context that goes beyond the words. In other words, to record is to summarize, and to record is to repeat the act of summarizing.

Discard everything but the core.

What is important in recording is the time to summarize and organize in your mind, not the time to write something in a notebook. You need to be able to answer “What is the key?” and “What is helpful to me? Let’s say you’re taking notes while listening to a lecture. If you are not familiar with summaries, start by writing down just two key words. This is easier than picking 10 keywords, so your concentration will increase as you think about not forgetting this. Once you find the key records, you can discard everything else. If you want to extract really valuable records, don’t be afraid to throw them away. In this way, you must get into the habit of finding only the key points and taking notes.

Classification Makes Writing Easier

In order to write, you must first create a framework, and sorting and organizing the jumble of potential thoughts naturally completes the framework. This framework will serve as a navigation guide for future writing. When writing long pieces such as introductions, essays, or reports, memo writing is useful. First, identify and categorize your thoughts about the topic. If there is anything that supports my claim, I will add it here from the notes I took while reading the book. At this point, what should I do to find my notes easily? Take different types of notes all at once in a universal notebook, and when you have time, divide them into different types of notes, such as knowledge notes, conversation notes, and thought notes, and reorganize them.

3 직장에서 스마트하게 기록하기

If you want to work competently, write down your thoughts.

A typical way to record your work is to keep a work notebook. You can use your workbook in different ways, depending on the nature of your work, but one rule is “write a little. If you simply follow this principle, many parts of your job will become easier. If a passionate new employee worked hard for two hours and wrote three pages in his work notebook, there is a good chance that he did not know what was important in his work. The key to recording work is to think a lot about “How can I do my work well? In the end, egocentricity must come first in the work, and the records must also contain one’s thoughts.

Record the context of the meeting

Typically, meeting minutes are written in great detail, but this is not a well-written meeting minute. Even if you record the meeting, it is fine to listen back and record only the important parts, but it is inefficient to listen to the entire recording. Even if the meeting is uneven and participants ramble, truly meaningful meeting minutes set the context of the meeting. To systematically capture that context, you need to follow a sequence. Structure the content of the meeting through the order of events and organize key points with keywords. And don’t forget that the issues decided in the meeting must be resolved at the end.

How to Take Notes and Report Instructions from Your Manager

How should I take notes when my boss calls me in and gives me work instructions? First, according to my boss’s instructions, I write down the content of the work to be done and the final product. The second important thing is to think about the original intention of the speaker. If you just dictate, there is a high probability that you will miss the essence of the clear end goal, the inner meaning or intention that dictates it, or the desired result. Once you have these two things written down, break the subject down and decide the order in which you will do the work. And if you find any shortcomings while writing the content in detail, do additional research. Finally, consider whether it meets your boss’s original intent, produce the results, and report them.

Understand the context of the conversation

Recording a conversation does not mean transcribing the entire content verbatim. Write down the context of the conversation, focusing on key words. A person who writes down the entire conversation is as likely to miss the point and essence of the conversation as a person who does not write it down at all. It’s enough to be able to remember what the conversation was about when you look at it later. When recording conversations, use a small A5-sized notebook rather than a large notebook because it is easier to carry and less cumbersome to take out and write in during a conversation. If you are a salesperson, you must also have the sense to take notes on what customers say in passing. If you write down a family member’s wedding or daily life, and then remember that day and congratulate them, it will help you win people’s hearts.

To organize your life, let’s use a mind map. First, draw a circle in the center and then write down your goal or dream. And if you make notes in areas such as work, self-development, family, hobbies, leisure and relationships, your thoughts will come to you much better. Let’s write about good and bad habits. When you draw the path of your life in this way, you can find out what kind of person you are.
