Running a warehouse is a cog in the wheel!
Hyundai Glovis Damyang Vehicle Release Center

Hyundai Glovis is on a nationwide field trip to visit Hyundai Glovis staff members across the country! This time, we visited Damyang, a city famous for its metasequoia trees. The high autumn sky and cool breeze blow through the Damyang Vehicle Release Center. The staffs of the Damyang Vehicle Release Center are in charge of release vehicles to the Honam region, relying on each other. They work hard to ensure the best quality for our customers, so they can receive their new cars safely.

The Hyundai Glovis Damyang Vehicle Release Center is responsible for all the logistics of sending finished vehicles produced in Ulsan, Asan, Gwangju, and factories to customers in the Honam region. In April of this year, the center was changed to a direct operation system and assumed the enormous task of being responsible for the entire process of entering and exiting vehicles in the Honam region, including painting, car washing, payment, and inspection. No part of the logistics service can be neglected. Just like cogs interlocking to complete time, they operate a huge logistics center with interlocking tasks. The staffs of the Damyang Vehicle Release Center say that they can overcome any difficulties if they communicate and cooperate. Let’s meet their strength.

What kind of work does the Damyang Vehicle Release Center do?

We are responsible for delivering finished vehicles from our Ulsan, Asan, and Gwangju (GGM) plants to customers in the Honam region who are waiting for their new cars. We do our best to ensure that our customers receive the best cars they can afford by performing complete inspections, such as painting, washing, and loading supplies before release.

What are the biggest concerns of the Damyang center?

Recently, there have been many difficulties due to the lack of warehousing space in the center due to the increase in incoming goods at the Damyang Vehicle Release center, but through close cooperation and communication with team members and staffs of each partner company in the center, we are wisely solving the difficult environment by playing a faithful role in their respective positions.

Damyang Center staffs celebrated after winning the teamwork game

Hyundai Glovis changed to a direct operating system in April, what is different about going to a direct operating system?

Since the Damyang Vehicle Release Center was changed to our direct operation system in April this year, our staffs have taken over some of the tasks that were previously performed by our customers. We feel a tremendous sense of responsibility as the Damyang Vehicle Release Center is in charge of the entire process from warehousing to delivery to customers. In times like these, we will strive to make the center a place where all customers can be satisfied through collaboration and communication with our team members.

What do you pay special attention to during the smooth logistics process at the Damyang Vehicle Release Center?

We believe that logistics is like a cog in a wheel, and if the cogs don’t work together in their respective processes to ensure that customers receive the vehicles they want, it will be difficult to ensure quality that meets the customer’s expectations. Therefore, all staffs at the Damyang Vehicle Release Center are working diligently to carry out the entire logistics process to provide the best quality to our customers. We will continue to work hard as a team to ensure that the logistics process runs smoothly.

What are some of the challenges Damyang Center have to overcome? I’d also like to know how to overcome them

As we changed to a direct operating system, many of our staffs felt overwhelmed by their new duties, and we’re sure they had some fears about taking on new tasks for the first time. Fortunately, as we worked together as a team, most of our staffs have adapted to their duties and are now running the Vehicle Release Center smoothly. We will continue to work together with our colleagues to overcome any difficulties we encounter.

How are the facilities at the Damyang Vehicle Release Center managed?

The Damyang center conducts on-site inspections from time to time to pre-check the operation of facilities and take prompt action in case of abnormalities. In addition, the facility is managed through facility safety personnel or external experts through HGSMS QR inspections on a daily, monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual basis.

How are you dealing with the unexpected accident at the Damyang Vehicle Release Center?

We have established and operated contingency plans for each scenario to prepare for unexpected situations with managers of customers and suppliers. We prevent safety accidents by eliminating potential hazards that may occur during work through frequent near misses and sharing accident cases with each other, establishing manuals for unexpected situations, and responding to unexpected situations by taking preemptive measures and reporting.

Do you have any plans to increase the number of vehicles coming in and out of the Damyang Vehicle Release Center?

In order to increase the number of vehicles coming in, we believe that the first priority is to ensure that the highest quality vehicles are delivered to our customers. In order to ensure that the highest quality vehicles are delivered, we believe that we need to move away from a set of fixed processes and continuously improve our processes with our partners and customers to keep up with the times. If we improve our processes, our work will become more efficient, and the number of vehicles coming in and out will naturally increase.

Please tell us about your future goals for the Damyang Vehicle Release Center

The first goal of the Damyang Vehicle Release Center is “safety” first and foremost. We will create a workplace where all staffs can come to work safely and go home safely. The second goal is to create the “best workplace” so that Hyundai Glovis staffs will want to work at the Damyang Vehicle Release Center at least once.

Is there anything you would like to say to the staff of Damyang Vehicle Release Center?

I remember the late nights that all staffs worked during the period when the Damyang Vehicle Release Center was changed to our own operating system. I would like to thank the staffs for their hard work through many trials and difficulties, and the team members who have been with us from the beginning to the end of our work, which is not anyone else’s work. I will always be grateful and thankful.
