One Mind, Different Ways

One Mind, Different Ways

Communication methods of overseas branches

We all work together under the name "Glovis" to grow into a global company and shape a better future.
We are also working to resolve difficulties with the communication methods appropriate for
each organization ─ and to find better ways to overcome these hard times and make rapid changes.
Let us introduce you to the communication methods that our overseas branches have utilized.

New Ways of Communicating in our Remote Work Culture

GLOVIS CANADA, HANNAH CHOI

It is astonishing that it has been almost a year since the Covid-19 pandemic hit and transformed our work culture. Let’s see how Glovis Canada quickly pivoted to enable employees to work remotely and have flexible communication.

The firm’s weekly virtual meeting is the best case for showing how the digital transformation helped us to have better communication despite the new remote work culture. Throughout these virtual meetings, managers share issues that must be resolved across departments. The purpose of these meetings is to communicate the mission and goals clearly through an exchange of ideas and to continue to reinforce collaboration among teams.

Another example is the anonymous employee survey system. When we want to collect feedback and apply those opinions to policies or important decisions, we use an anonymous survey platform to allow employees to be more explicit about what they would like to say to the company. This system helps employees feel safe to speak their minds and to be heard.

At the beginning of 2021, we launched an electronic approval system that enables employees sign off on and check any comments using a mobile app.

We all understand that communication and in-person interaction are key for fostering a horizontal work culture. In the past, we often hosted company events like Friday breakfast sessions, to promote a positive work culture. However, in this “new normal” era, Glovis Canada is trying to find creative ways through digital transformation across the firm to keep employees engaged and communicating in real time, and from anywhere, to increase collaboration and overcome physical distances.

To make a better workplace and cultivate a culture of belonging, I believe it is time to gather all team members’ voices efficiently. Thank you.

One for All, All for One

GLOVIS ALABAMA, JULIANA DANIELS & JAE HYUN PARK

Whether it is between team members on a dock or managers in an office, communication is vital to success. Glovis Alabama encourages communication and dialogue between management and warehouse members in many ways. Our Roundtable Meeting is a voluntary meeting encouraging team members to bring any concerns and ideas regarding the workplace to share with management.

Even though we have many avenues for communication at Glovis Alabama, team members are encouraged to communicate with their Team Leaders, Supervisors and Managers. All companies have misunderstandings and differences of opinions within them. However, if a situation isn’t settled, members know they are able to use the “Open Door” Policy where these issues can be addressed continuing up the chain of command in order to achieve a fair and practical solution.

We conduct anonymous surveys to look into the sentiment and opinions of our employees without fear. Our HRMS allows for email and text messaging notifying members of production changes or upcoming events. Our department is available to meet members in the warehouse and make ourselves available for any of their needs. We actively look to promote a culture of communication and feedback.

Glovis Alabama is proud of its members and we try to show appreciation for them in various ways which include fun activities and events, luncheons (pre-COVID), snacks, or company gifts.

Glovis Alabama understands that to become a successful company, we need to manage and keep our employees content. In that regard, we have been keeping our employees engaged and involved in our decision-making processes throughout our various channels. By fostering a positive work environment, we want to not only benefit our company but also the livelihoods of all connected with our employees, and bridge our communities in an impactful manner.
